Welcome to Shores Community Church

If it’s your first time at Shores, you’re our honored guest. We understand showing up at a new place for the first time takes you out of your comfort zone. So here’s more information about Shores and what you can expect.

What to Expect

We’ve all been there – going to a new place for the first time takes you out of your comfort zone. So here’s what you can expect when you come to Shores.

Smiling Faces

From the front door to the auditorium, our greeters and ushers will help you find what you’re looking for, and answer your questions.

 A Personal Connection

Stop by our Welcome Center. We have a gift for you, and people happy to show you around and help you get where you’re going.

Engaging Worship

Our Worship Team will lead you through songs as we worship together. Don’t worry if you don’t know the words – we put them up on a big screen for you.

Biblical Teaching

Every Sunday you can expect biblically based teaching that you can relate to and apply to your life.

Casual Dress

We’re a come-as-you-are crowd. Being in a resort town, it’s not unusual to see people in shorts and flip flops. Most people dress casually, but you’re welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable.

What We Believe

The Gospel

“Gospel” means “good news”. It  is the central truth of the Bible.. The good news is that while we were dead in our sin, God sent his son Jesus to live a perfect life on our behalf, die in our place to pay the penalty for our sin, and rise from the grave to offer us new life in his Spirit.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s Word, a true and fully accurate account of God’s love for us. Its purpose is to teach us how to have a relationship with him, worship him, and bring him glory.

God

We believe God is the Creator of everything. He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God the Father is an infinite personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love.  He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person. He hears and answers prayer. He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ is God’s one and only son.  We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings.  We believe He died in our place, rose from the grave, and ascended into heaven, where today he intercedes for his people.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is our great helper. He  convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates, sanctifies and empowers all who believe in Jesus Christ. He indwells every believer in Christ, our helper, teacher, and guide.

Humanity

We believe that God created us in his image to worship him and give him glory.

Sadly, sin has kept us from knowing God and worshiping him. But Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin, and now offers a restored relationship with God as a free gift to all who believe in him.

The Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ on earth and a movement of disciple-making disciples. As such, every believer should be identified with a local church for the purpose of mutual encouragement, spiritual growth, and accountability.

Discipleship

We believe that all disciples should continually grow as (1) worshipers, knowing, loving, and obeying God above all else; (2) family members, committed to each other in love; (3) servants, gladly giving of themselves for the good of others; (4) stewards, managing God’s gifts for God’s purposes; and (5) witnesses, proclaiming Christ in word and deed.
